Minu täiuslik kleit aka Sewaholiku Yaletown. My perfect dress aka Yaletown by Sewaholic.

Dress again! This time midi, not maxi. The reason why I sewed a dress again, is because Tasia from Sewaholic released  new pattern Yaletown in the beginning of this week and I fell in love at the moment I saw this perfection. I really like how Tasia really thinks her designs through and tries to make them flattering for pear-ish shape girls. I was so excited to start with the sewing right away so I bought the PDF pattern and did some scissors-glue work.

Sest see kleit kulutas 2,5 m kangast.

Although I am size 4 according to my measurements, I went with size 2 as I did with my Minoru jacket. The fabric is from Abakhan Fabrics and it is viscose. I remember that it was very affordable and so I had bought it 3 m. The pattern called for 3,4 m but I knew that it was too much for me as I don't follow the layout suggestions. I remember watching my grandmother and mother sew and starting sewing later myself, there was always an issue with lacking of fabric. It was very luxurious to cut facings in one piece for example. Usually you had to make one or several seams or even use matching fabric. It was so mainly because fabric was expencive or because due to the lack of fabric (or any goods) in the stores during Soviet time you always had to bought it when you were lucky to go to the fabric store  in a day when there was something at all and buying in advance you just had to guess how much you will need it and you didn't want to by too much because it was waist of money. So 1,5 cm seam allowance included in the pattern is luxurious enough for me:)

I didn't change anything in the pattern except the length. I added 10 cm to the skirt part, but when I started to cut out the second skirt piece, I forgot to add this extra, so I just didn't do the hemming as the pattern called but just serged and turned about 0,5 cm.
I followed the instructions given in the pattern and they were very clear and with minimum words the maximum was said.
I also made the fabric tie-belt to get this wrap-dress feeling. I secured the neck opening with snap fastener but after taking these photos I saw that it pulled a bit, so afterwards I removed it and just sewed the neck opening together. It isn't necessary though as the neck opening isn't opening too much but I just wanted to be sure :)

Sobib ka tavalise vööga. The leather bels is ok too.

Tööhoos. Work in progress.

Väike nipp ka. Minu meelest on sellisest lödist riidest katteriiet palju parem lõigata kui kangas ENNE liimiriidega dubleerida (see on mu ema sõna  :) ) ja alles siis lõigata. Sest pärast võib katteriide ja liimiriide kokkusobitamine olla paras piin (just selliste kangaste puhul).

A little trick too - I find it a lot easier to cut facings after I have fused the interfacing. Trying to match the facing and the interfacing later with such an "unstable" fabric could be a quite torture.

I have to say that I like this pattern a lot. I love the sleeves although I was not very sure about them at the beginning. But when I set them in and tried I was surprised. And they are also very comfortable.
This pattern is really perfect for me and I am so grateful for Tasia to create such a lovely patterns.

See kleit istub Sulle kui valatult! Või siis võlukepikesega tinistatult! Väga-väga ilusad kingad teevad komplekti täiuslikuks! :)

Ilus kleit! Pildid meeldivad ka väga, hea detaile uurida. Erilised plusspunktid WIP piltide eest! Mulle meeldib piiluda, kuidas teised inimesed töötavad, saab kasulikke nippe kõrva taha panna teinekord.

Endalegi on need toredad mälestused :))

This is gorgeous on you! I would also call the Yaletown my perfect dress, and I'm desparate for more fabric to make a second (and third, and fourth).

And regarding the facing vs interfacing - I made mine with a viscose twill and couldn't BELIEVE how much it stretched by the time I got to fusing my interfacing. It had about 5cm extra at one end, and yes it was a hassle to get it back into place

Ilus on.
Kui palju sul neid kleite kapis elab üldse?

Your dress looks really cute! Unfortunately sewing is not mine! A dress would possibly not really look like a dress! ;) But I love knitting! So I can make it this way! :)

Sophie-Lee - thanks for stopping by! I went to your blog and wanted to leave a comment, but some kind of error occurred every time, so I will it leave here.
"I am so glad you left a comment to my Yaletown, because thanks to it I discovered you :) I love your dress and this style is for you! I first styled my dress with heels but actually my style is more with sandals. I think this dress looks good with both :)
But your dress and the lipstick are match made in heaven!
And I feel also that I will make hundreds of this dress :)))"
Rael - aitäh! Tead ega neid kleite polegi nüüd niiiii palju :) Vabalt mahub veel!
Thank you, Eve! You have a lovely blog!
Aitäh, Liina! Ma polegi kuulnud sellest näitusest. Aitäh teavitamast!
